Bend, Don't Break

The holidays are creeping up on us so quickly, so I have been doing a little bit of research in order to be ready to take on all the Christmas dinners ahead. What kind of preparation? Well, the kind of prep where you can keep eating and eating and not get sick! I don't know how many times this has happened to me, to just eat so much and then feel like I was going to pass out or die on the floor. A lot... And every time I tell myself it won't happen again, but I just lie to myself. If you are like me and you are obsessed with food then this is for you! The solution to this food coma might actually suprise some... After my yoga class tonight I asked my instructor if she knew any tips/poses that would help digest food faster, and she had a bunch of ideas! So here they are, I selected the best ones (and easiest to do) so that no one should feel bad about eating too much ever again!

1. Apanasana

This one is perfect if you feel bloated. Lie on your back, inhale, and place your hands on your knees. Exhale and hug your knees to your chest. Rock your knees from side to side, and stay like this for a few breaths, then release. Do this as many times as you'd like, it feels so good!

2. Bridge pose

This pose is super easy to do and will help make you feel more energized after all the food! Lie down and bend your knees. Keep your arms beside your body, move your hips up to give your chest a big stretch. Go back down, and then back up again, and keep going for a couple of minutes.

3. Balasana

This one is also called child's pose and it is one of my favorite to do at any time, simply because it is so relaxing. Sit on your knees and feet, lean forward while stretching your arms in front of you. Keep your back straight and place your forehead on the floor. So simple!

You don't need to be a professional yogi master to do any of these, you don't even need to be very athletic! I'll be doing these between all the family dinners that are coming up, and hopefully you too.
